It was a triumphant moment for Lim Tien Aun and TAR UC as well during the Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders Competition 2017 prize giving ceremony on 23 August 2017 with another unprecedented win in the said competition. The third year Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Information Security student was pleasantly surprised when he emerged as the 1st Runner-up in the competition.  As the 1st Runner-up, he took home a MasterPulse Headset and a certificate for his achievement.

“I saw my peers participating in this competition before and it looked like fun so I decided to participate this year,” shared Tien Aun. “Most of what came out in the competition had been covered in our programme syllabus and my lecturers and tutors are very knowledgeable in this field so that helped a lot. They provided us with a lot of revision materials for us in preparation for this competition and it was very motivating.”

Organised by Politeknik Mersing Johor, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation ('MDEC') and Cisco Networking Academy Malaysia, this national level competition provides a great opportunity for students to showcase their networking abilities, learn new IT skills and gain visibility among recruiters in the growing ICT and networking field.

This year, TAR UC was represented by six student participants who went up against 152 other participants from various institutions across Malaysia. Apart from Tien Aun, other participants from TAR UC were his course mates – Lim Ming Haw, Lim Seng Ken and Sew Jun Ming and Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Information Technology students, Yong Cheng Kian and Tay Shi Ting.

The win highlights the 10th consecutive year TAR UC is placed among the top three positions in Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders Competition since 2008.
