2024 is another great year for TAR UMT which saw 8,136 students from all of its campuses nationwide successfully completing their programme of study at TAR UMT. The first convocation session for the year was held in January, where 4,363 graduates received their degrees, including 25 Master's Degrees, 3,178 Bachelor's Degrees, and 1,160 Diplomas. The second convocation session was held in September, where 3,773 graduates received their degrees, including 2 Doctorate Degrees, 58 Master's Degrees, 30 Postgraduate Diploma, 683 Bachelor's Degrees, and 2,069 Diplomas. Additionally, 931 students have completed their Foundation programme.
A notable highlight of the University’s convocation sessions in 2024 was the inaugural convocation of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education which was held in July this year. A group of 27 teachers from Foon Yew High School were the pioneers to graduate with this programme.
Meanwhile, among the highlights of the University’s September 2024 convocation session is the graduation of TAR UMT’s first two PhD graduates, Kathleen Tan, a Doctor of Philosophy (Computer Science), and Monna Ong, a Doctor of Psychology.
Another significant highlight of the September convocation sessions was honouring Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik with the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Business. This esteemed honour is the TAR UMT’s recognition of Tun Ling’s significant contributions to TAR UMT's growth and development, including fundraisings, the expansion of its campuses and the establishment of the Merit Scholarship scheme.
