From Books to Borders: TARCians' Well-spent Month in Thailand

TAR UMT students pursuing their honours degree in English with Drama, English with Education and English Studies spent a month in Thailand between 10 June to 8 July 2024 as part of a student exchange program between TAR UMT and partner university Thaksin University.

The well-spent one month for the TARCians provided a deep dive into Thai culture through various activities such as traditional music, arts, Muay Thai, cooking, and dance classes. These immersive experiences allowed the students to gain a first-hand understanding of Thai cultural practices and traditions. The group of TARCians also had the opportunity to visit the PSU Arts and Cultural Centre.

In addition, they also had the unique opportunity to teach primary school students, while two students from the group also attended a master's degree class. The opportunity to teach primary school students was a unique and enriching experience that enhanced the students' confidence, leadership skills, and empathy. It provided a platform for them to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting and to reflect on their own educational journeys.

All in all, the exchange program between TAR UMT and Thaksin University offered a comprehensive experience that combined cultural immersion, academic growth, and cross-cultural understanding. This blend of activities not only enriched the TARCians culturally but also facilitated their personal and educational development in profound ways.
