On 21 January 2025, Yang Berhormat (YB) Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport visited TAR UMT to hand over the mock cheque of RM40 million Government grant to TAR UMT. The Minister was welcomed by Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, Chairman of the Board of Governors, and Alumni Council of TAR UMT, Prof Dato’ Indera Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT and IR Tan Chee Kian, Deputy Chairman of TAR UMT Alumni Council.
“The Government recognises TAR UMT’s continued role in nation-building, especially in this age of digital technology. More so, as a technological university, TAR UMT is poised to continue developing the required human capital for the country, especially talents in digital and internet technology,” YB Loke said.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Chan expressed his appreciation to the Government for the continued financial support to TAR UMT as he expressed, “This annual financial grant is important to support the operations of the University, especially to continue maintaining the University’s affordable fees. We remain grateful for the Government’s support towards TAR UMT.”
