TARCian Scores Third Place in Malaysia

Long Shi Yan made TAR UC proud after finishing 3rd in Malaysia at the Asia Pacific, Japan and China (‘APJC’) NetAcad Riders Competition 2022 on 11 May 2022.

In the competition conducted via online quiz, Shi Yan did not only earn a Silver Certificate award, his high score also means the Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Information Security student is the 3rd highest scorer in Malaysia.

TAR UC also saw three other students in Tan Wei Ting, Chuah Cheng Xuan, and Yap Zhi Min scoring a Silver Certificate award, while Ng Jun Chen and Hector Lim Jeng Yann claimed the Bronze Certificate awards respectively.

A Silver Certificate means the participant is among the top 10% high scorers in the APJC region, while a Bronze Certificate is for the top 15% high scorers across APJC.

Organised annually by Cisco Networking Academy, the APJC NetAcad Riders Competition is an interactive networking skills competition aimed at enhancing learning capabilities, connecting trainees across the region, and promoting education.

Describing his experience, Shi Yan said: “It was quite a fun experience being able to compete with people from different regions, but my 3rd place finish was a surprising but satisfactory outcome.

“The quiz consists of a lot of things which I have learned at TAR UC, so it was pretty reassuring that I was already well prepared with the knowledge to tackle the quiz."
