Ethical practices and sustainability efforts in the age of economic, societal and governance (ESG) awareness were at the forefront of TAR UMT’s Institute of Public Relations Malaysia Student Association (IPRMSA) Industry-Academic Forum held on 25 April 2024 at the KL Campus.

The forum was organised by TAR UMT’s Bachelor of Public Relations (Hons) students and attracted about 120 participants. It was an ideal platform for industry and academic experts to share their unique experiences on the importance of maintaining an ethical outlook and sustainable initiatives in public relations, media, and communication efforts.

“This forum presents an effective and engaging platform for our students to gain real-life exposures from the experiences of experts, and to be more equipped with knowledge and skills required by the industry,” said Ms Dearna Kee June Chen, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Creative Industries (FCCI).

The forum featured a four-person panel, namely Dr Kho Suet Nie, senior lecturer from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Prof Dr Kiranjit Kaur, veteran public relations educator, Ms Loh Hui Ping, Head of Strategy from Thinking Cap Studio, and Mr Justin Cheah, Marketing Director of Kechara Soup Kitchen, who all offered varied insights into ethical practices and sustainability efforts from different perspectives.
