The latest organisation to establish financial aid in the forms of a scholarship and a student loan fund for students of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) is LC1010 Club Malaysia, a motorcycle riding club formed by Hong Leong Yamaha Motor personnel and Yamaha motorcycle dealers. The financial assistance was formalised through an agreement signing ceremony on 17 July 2024, paving the way for the establishment of the TARC-LC1010 Club Malaysia Student Loan worth RM500,000 and the LC1010 Club Malaysia Scholarship worth RM100,000. Representing LC1010 Club Malaysia was its President, Prof Dato’ Dr Jim Khor Mun Wei, who is also an alumnus of TAR UMT. Also present was Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT.

In his speech, Prof Dato’ Dr Jim Khor said, “We hope this contribution can help many students complete their studies without financial constraints. This is the first industrial club we have formed, which embodies a concept of unity and family values. We aim to give back to society through CSR initiatives. Additionally, we are also offering free membership for students to join our club, providing opportunities for networking, industrial training, and industry exposure that will accelerate their learning in life.”

Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei expressed his gratitude, saying, “We would like to thank LC1010 Club Malaysia for their generosity in establishing these much-needed financial aid. It’s heartening to witness the generosity and unity among the club members to give back what they can to help others. More than that, the club’s intention of establishing lasting relationships with students through mentoring and networking is a fine example of giving back to society.”
