TAR UMT welcomed a delegation from the Malaysian Association of China Students Alumni (MACSA) on 17 July 2026 for a courtesy visit that brought together University representatives and Chinese international students to strengthen ties, deepen mutual understanding and explore potential areas of collaboration.

A key part of the visit was an engagement with Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, Chairman of the Board of Governors of TAR UMT, alongside a dialogue with Chinese international students studying at the University. The exchange focused on education, student experiences in Malaysia and matters of mutual interest to TAR UMT and MACSA.

During the engagement, Tan Sri Chan reflected on TAR UMT’s longstanding ties with the community, noting that many families have developed connections with the University through generations of students and alumni. He also highlighted TAR UMT’s founding mission to widen access to higher education for those who faced limited educational opportunities at the time.

The dialogue also addressed student life and practical experiences in Malaysia, cultural exchange among overseas Chinese youth, and potential collaboration between TAR UMT’s student clubs and societies and MACSA.

MACSA Advisor, Huang Bin, emphasised the importance of supporting Chinese international students through stronger networks and professional development opportunities. He encouraged students to broaden their experiences beyond academic studies by participating in social and industry-related activities that offer practical exposure.

The MACSA delegation was led by its President, Zhu Yifan, and comprised Advisors, Deputy President, Vice President, Deputy Secretary-General and committee members of the association. The delegation was welcomed by Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, Chairman of the Board of Governors of TAR UMT, together with other TAR UMT officials.

The delegation also toured the TAR UMT campus and visited the Skyfield at TAR UMT Arena. The courtesy visit concluded with a screening of The Story of TARCians at the TAR UMT Arena Auditorium, offering the delegates further insight into the University’s history, values, achievements and student experience.

The visit strengthened mutual understanding between TAR UMT and MACSA and opened avenues for continued engagement in student activities, cultural exchange and professional networking. It also underscored the importance of supporting the wider educational and professional development of international students.
